If you won't save me,please don't waste my time.
I stayed at the petro palace in December 2008, and the only reason i am writing a review is because so many people on here are talking absolute rubbish !!! The Hotel location is excellent, the size of the rooms are very generous in comparison to some hotels i have stayed in, in other places in Europe !!! The rooms a very clean as well as the ensuite, which is fairly sized and nice a warm, with the heated floors !!! Some reviewer says that the cleaners got onto the room 3 times while he was sleeping despite a do not disturb sign, a word of advice..... if you lift the door knob, it actually locks the door ! Duh !!!!!
Yes, they will charge you 120 rubbles for an admin fee to register your visa, and they do let you know this, despite some idiots on here claiming that they don't. For this they will keep your passport for 2 hours, don't worry they won't lose it !!!!! I left it there for 3 days and low and behold it was still there when i collected it ! Relax people, they are a professional outfit ! Yes it is not the cheapest, but what is in St. Petersburg ???? Yes, they charge you for extras, internet etc.... Ofcourse, they are a business not a charity !!!! I can't help you with whether the staff can help with attractions or not, because as i am 39 years old, i did my own thing, and managed to go to the marinsky theattre, hermitage, russian museum, St issacs Cathedral, amongst others, all on my own !!!! Wow !!!!! I found the staff very friendly and corteous when approached and to be honest that is all i expect !!!! but everyone is different i suppose... If you can, try and catch a ballet or opera at the marinsky, that was quite simply outstanding !!! St petersburg is a fanatastic city with many things to do,, beware though it is very, very cold !!!! wrap up and enjoy ! and once again thank you to everyone at the Petro Palace for making me feel so welcome.
